Handcrafted Christmas Ornaments
air dry clay, acrylic gouache & wooden beads
glass ball ornaments, hot glue & yarn
It's become a tradition for me to make Christmas ornaments every year. I've been doing it for so long I don't even remember when it started. Obviously, it started as a way to make gifts for family and loved ones, but now that I'm selling at local markets I was excited to have an opportunity to share my holiday creations with others.
I have come to love woodsy Christmas esthetics and those vibes are exactly what I wanted to capture with these ornaments. I was inspired by folk art in general, but especially the Nordic and Scandinavian style and imagery. All but one of the ornaments are made with air dry clay, each one cut and painted by hand. Even the wood beads I used were painted to add to the rustic charm. You can view my little time laps video on YouTube to see how I go about making the clay ornaments. The yarn ornaments are the only outlier, being made of glass ball ornaments and yarn. I came across a bunch of images of similar ornaments on Pinterest and thought they would make an extra cozy addition to a Christmas tree.
